In this study, we profiled gene expression in chicken liver and screened differentially expressed genes in the Bai’er layers and fat line broilers. Birds were derived from the 14th generation of Northeast Agricultural University fat broiler lines and Bai’er layers. Chicken genome arrays were used to screen differentially expressed genes in liver tissue from the Bai’er layers and fat line broilers. We screened 671 differentially expressed genes between broilers and layers at the ages of 2 and 4 weeks.

In general, the phospholipase C (PLC) signaling pathway is involved in many physiological activities, including cell growth. However, little is known regarding how the PLC signaling pathway participates in regulating hepatocyte (HC) growth during liver regeneration (LR). To further explore the influence of the PLC signaling pathway on HCs at the cellular level, HCs of high purity and vitality were isolated using Percoll density-gradient centrifugation after partial hepatectomy.

The complete coding sequences (CDSs) of “Yunnan Purple Pepper No.1” (Capsicum annuum L.) AN2 and UPA20 genes were amplified using the reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction on the basis of the conserved sequence information of some Solanaceae plants and known highly homologous pepper expressed sequence tags. The nucleotide sequence analysis of these 2 genes revealed that pepper AN2 gene encoded a protein of 263 amino acids that has high homology with the AN2-like protein of 4 species: tobacco, tomato, potato, and petunia.

The aim of this study was to explain the pathogenesis and deterioration process of breast cancer. Breast cancer expression profile data GSE27567 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and breast cancer-related genes were extracted from databases, including Cancer-Resource and Online Mendelian Inheritance In Man (OMIM). Next, h17 transcription factor data were obtained from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Differentially expressed genes in the liver of lean and fat chickens

This study aimed to investigate gene expression in the chicken liver for lean and fat broiler lines. Birds used in this study were 2 and 4 weeks of age; they were derived from the 14th generation of Northeast Agricultural University broiler lines, which were divergently selected based on abdominal fat content. Chicken Genome Arrays were used to screen differentially expressed genes in the liver tissue from lean and fat birds. At 2 and 4 weeks of age, 770 and 452 genes were differentially expressed between the 2 lines, respectively.

We isolated two transcription factor genes, heterotrimeric G protein beta 2 subunit (Gβ2) and ArcA1, from pepper (Capsicum annuum). The complete coding sequences were amplified using reversed transcriptase PCR based on conserved sequence information of Solanum lycopersicum and several other plant species. Nucleotide sequence analysis of these two genes revealed that the pepper Gβ2 gene encodes a protein of 376 amino acids that belongs to the WD40 superfamily.

The complete coding sequences were amplified using reverse transcriptase-PCR on the basis of conserved sequence information of eggplant and several other plant species. Nucleotide sequence analysis of these two genes revealed that the pepper TAF10 gene encodes a protein of 103 amino acids that belongs to the TAF10 superfamily.

Expression analysis of VfDGAT2 in various tissues of the tung tree and in transgenic yeast

The tung tree (Vernicia fordii Hemsl.; Vf) has great potential as an industrial crop owning to its seed oil that has multiple uses. Diacylglycerol acyltransferases (DGATs) catalyze the last and most committed step of triacylglycerol (TAG) biosynthesis. In order to examine the physiological role of the VfDGAT2 gene in the tung tree, we characterized its expression profiles in different tung tissues/organs and seeds at different developmental stages. Oil content and α-eleostearic acid production during seed development were also examined.

Liver cancer (LC) is generally characterized by malignant cell proliferation and growth; it normally develops in stages that progress from non-specific injury of the liver to liver fibrosis, liver cirrhosis, dysplasia nodules, and liver carcinoma. We used a rat model of diethylnitrosamine (DENA)-induced LC; a Rat Genome 230 2.0 Array was used to detect gene expression profile of liver tissues from male rats 5, 8, 12, 16, and 18 weeks following the beginning of DENA-induced LC.

The molecular pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) is poorly understood. In order to expand our knowledge of genetic defects in MDS, we determined the overall profile of genes expressed in bone marrow from patients with refractory anemia with excess blasts (RAEB) by serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE). The present report describes a partial transcriptome of RAEB bone marrow derived from 56,694 sequenced tags that provides information about expressed gene products.
