Background: Cervical cancer is the most common gynaecological malignancy in India women. Limited studies have reported the association of multifunctional cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10) in different malignancies including cervical cancer. In this study we examined the serum IL-10 levels in patients with cervical cancer in eastern region of India. This study was carried out in a tertiary care hospital located in eastern region of India. Serum samples were collected from the subjects with cervical neoplasia and compared with healthy controls. The levels of IL-10 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in both groups and compared for the clinical correlation. Statistical analysis employed SPSS 13.0, applying various non-parametric and parametric tests to assess differences, with a significance threshold set at p < 0.05.This study included 64 confirmed cervical cancer cases and 28 healthy controls. The mean age of cervical cancer patients was 54.03 ± 8.36 years. The serum IL-10 levels were elevated in subjects with cervical neoplasia compared to the healthy controls (p=0.0001). This research demonstrates that the IL-10 levels significantly elevated than those in control group, suggesting its potential as a biomarker and its involvement in cervical neoplasia. Additional studies with a larger sample size needed to ascertain the findings
