Trace metal determination is essential for environmental monitoring, industrial quality control, and public health. Conventional techniques such as AAS, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS are highly sensitive but require costly instrumentation and skilled operators. This study presents a simple, rapid, and green UV-Visible spectrophotometric method for determining vanadium(III) using benzohydrazide (BH) in sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micellar medium, which replaces solvent extraction and reduces toxic solvent use. Solution pH, reagent and surfactant concentrations, complex stability, and foreign ion interference were optimized. The V(III)-BH complexes showed maximum absorbance at 517.4 nm, with good linearity and high molar absorptivity. The method gave satisfactory precision, good recoveries for certified reference materials, alloys, and tap water, and agreed well with AAS results. It offers a cost-effective, environmentally friendly alternative for routine vanadium analysis in laboratories lacking advanced instrumentation.
