Bromo-substituted Schiff base ligand derived from salicylaldehyde and 4-bromoaniline was synthesized and complexed with Fe(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) ions. The ligand and its metal complexes were characterized using UV Vis, FT-IR, and NMR spectroscopic techniques, confirming coordination through azomethine nitrogen and phenolic oxygen atoms. Antioxidant potential was evaluated by nitric oxide and DPPH radical scavenging assays, revealing moderate to appreciable activity for selected complexes. In silico target prediction indicated a strong affinity toward carbonic anhydrase isoforms and other cancer-relevant targets. The study highlights the role of halogen substitution and metal coordination in modulating biological activity of Schiff base complexes.
