Detection of molecular markers with parental polymorphism is a pre-requisite for QTL mapping and further identification of genomic regions. Polymorphic studies were carried out between two parents MTU1010 and Phulpattas 72 using 1132 randomly selected SSR markers for Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) covering the entire 12 chromosomes. Results revealed that highest percentage of polymorphism observed on 10th chromosome followed by 11th chromosome and 8th chromosome and lowest polymorphism percentage was shown in 5th chromosome with an overall 15.8% polymorphism percentage among all the markers used in this study.
