FROM DEVELOPMENTAL DEFECT TO FUNCTIONAL DENTITION - A PEDIATRIC REHABILITATION JOURNEY

Abstract

The Ectodermal dysplasia (ED) refers to a range of hereditary disorders that impact ectoderm-derived tissues, including sweat glands, teeth, hair, and nails. This syndrome is characterized by dental abnormalities such as hypodontia, anodontia, and conical-shaped teeth. The aim of this case report is to discuss the management of ectodermal dysplasia and clinical developments. The pediatric case of hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia of five-year-old boy is presented in this case report; has unique general features, functional and oral symptoms. The fixed partial denture provided for the missing teeth in upper arch and removable partial denture has been given to the lower arch. The aim of the case report is to discuss child unique, interdisciplinary dental care techniques, radiological characteristics, and clinical presentation and multidisciplinary dental management. To improve oral function, appearance, and psychosocial results, early diagnosis and management are crucial.
