Abstract

Orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term treatment stability are all significantly impacted by vertical skeletal abnormalities. This study assessed the R angle's concordance with standard cephalometric measures and its efficacy as a cephalometric parameter for evaluating vertical skeletal discrepancies. Two hundred seventy lateral cephalometric radiographs of orthodontic patients between the ages of eighteen and thirty from the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics at the D. Y. Patil University School of Dentistry in Navi Mumbai were examined. The R angle's value as an additional tool for assessing vertical skeletal discrepancies and helping orthodontists evaluate vertical skeletal patterns was supported by statistically strong correlations with established cephalometric parameters.
