BENEFITS OF USING CUBASE SOFTWARE IN MUSIC ENGINEERING FOR THE VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF INDIAN MUSIC STUDENTS

Abstract

The rapid integration of digital technologies into music education has significantly transformed the methods of teaching, learning, and professional training in music engineering. Among the various Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), Cubase (often mistakenly written as "Qbase") has emerged as a powerful platform for recording, editing, composing, mixing, and mastering music. This study examines the benefits of using Cubase software in music engineering for the vocational development of Indian music students. It highlights how the software enables learners to acquire practical, industry oriented skills that complement traditional musical knowledge and prepare them for diverse career opportunities in the contemporary music industry. Through hands-on experience with digital audio production, MIDI programming, sound design, and multimedia integration, students develop technical competence, creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial abilities. The study also emphasises the role of Cubase in promoting self-employment through home studio production, freelance music services, digital content creation, and online collaboration. Furthermore, it explores how the software supports the preservation of Indian musical traditions while encouraging innovation through modern production techniques. The findings suggest that incorporating Cubase into vocational music education enhances employability, bridges the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, and contributes to the sustainable professional growth of aspiring music engineers in India's expanding digital creative economy.
