EVALUATION OF SOME INFLAMMATORY AND OXIDATIVE PARAMETERS IN INFERTILE FEMALE PATIENTS IN DHI QAR GOVERNORATE, IRAQ

Study Objective: This study was designed to evaluate certain inflammatory (IL4, IL8, CRP, TNF) and oxidative (SOD, MDA, GPx) markers in women with primary and secondary infertility in Dhi Qar Governorate. Methodology: The study sample consisted of 230 infertile female patients. The required analyses were performed on 30 of them: 15 female patients with primary infertility (Group 1) and 15 female patients with secondary infertility (Group 2), while the control group consists of 10 healthy females don’t suffer from any diseases. The analysis was performed according to the number of measurements used for each inflammatory and oxidative marker. Results: The current study showed a significant decrease in the concentration of both interleukin-4, interleukin-8 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF), and a significant increase in the concentration of C-reactive protein (CRP) in the first group (those with primary infertility) and the second group (those with secondary infertility) when compared with the third group (healthy females) at the probability level P≤0.05. On the other hand, the results showed a significant increase in the concentration of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and a significant decrease in the concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) in both the primary and secondary infertility groups compared to the control group, and a decrease in the primary infertility group compared to the secondary infertility group at a probability level of P≤0.05. Also, a significant increase in the concentration of glutathione peroxidase (GPX) was observed in the secondary infertility group compared to both the primary infertility group and the healthy group at a probability level of P≤0.05. Conclusions: Infertility is associated with clear and distinct changes in the studied inflammatory and oxidative parameters.
