IMPROVING STUDENTS’ PEDAGOGICAL EXPERIENCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN INDIA

Abstract

Various reports have established that the quality of higher education in India is suffering from some serious setbacks. These setbacks are identified as the lack of emphasis on practical skill development, which can be applied in the workforce. One of the core factors for such gaps is the absence of project-based learning and effective strategies in the Indian higher education system. To address these setbacks, this research is the strategic proceeding for implementing active learning approaches towards improving students’ pedagogical experience in higher education in India. For this purpose, this research developed the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 36 articles selected through Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The purpose is to critically evaluate the relevance of Active Learning Approaches for higher education in India and justify their effectiveness to the stakeholders involved in the teaching-learning system. This research also provides an integrated strategic plan in association with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with effect from the 2023- 2024 academic year.
