A RARE CASE OF GIANT CERVICAL MALIGNANT PERIPHERAL NERVE SHEATH TUMOR ARISING FROM LEFT VAGUS IN A YOUNG ADULT

Abstract

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a rare and aggressive soft tissue sarcoma arising from peripheral nerve sheath elements, accounting for approximately 5–10% of soft tissue sarcomas. It may develop de novo or through malignant transformation of a pre-existing benign neurofibroma. Head and neck involvement is uncommon and often presents a diagnostic challenge because of its deep location and close relation to major neurovascular structures. Early diagnosis and complete surgical excision remain the cornerstone of management. We report a rare case of a giant cervical MPNST arising in a LEFT VAGUS in a young male.
