Mango-producing countries face a significant environmental challenge due to the limited options for utilizing the organic waste generated by these crops and its improper disposal. In this context, this research aimed to develop plant-based eco-leather from decomposing mango waste as an alternative to add value to organic waste and promote the bioeconomy and the circular economy. The methodology was based on a quantitative approach, using applied and descriptive research with an experimental and exploratory design. The results demonstrated outstanding characteristics such as flexibility, homogeneity, and improved surface texture after proportionally adjusting all the substances in the formula, resulting in a biomaterial with optimal characteristics for handling. The research revealed that utilizing decomposing fruits like mangoes not only reduces the amount of organic waste sent to landfills but also allows for the generation of sustainable materials with significant potential for application in various sectors, such as leather goods and fashion, which rely on traditional leather. Finally, the study concluded that this biomaterial could become a promising strategy for strengthening the bioeconomy and the principles of the circular economy by valorizing decomposing mango waste.
