INTEGRATIVE MANAGEMENT OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANAEMIA IN WOMEN OF REPRODUCTIVE AGE GROUP THROUGH AYURVEDA AND DIETARY MODIFICATION: A CRITICAL REVIEW

Globally, Anaemia is a major public health concern especially in low and middle-income countries. Acharya Charaka and Vagbhata consider this disease in the context Pandu roga & it is a disease of Rasavaha Strotas. While, Acharya Sushruta accepted it as disease of Raktavaha Srotas. Stress, mensutartion, pregnancy, worm infection, diet deficiency are key factors that leads to anaemia. Women are prone to anaemia in their reproductive age group that marked as 30.7% prevalence in age between 15-49 years. Ayurveda is traditional health system that help through various measures in the clinical condition of anaemia. Rasayana drugs of Ayurveda such as Amlaki, shatavari, punarnava mandura, lauha bhasma etc have potential to manage the cases of anaemia. By adopting dincharya, ratricharya, ritucharya, sadvritta and Yoga as a part of daily routine help to calm mind, release stress and give sense of right food choices which help to cope up from the condition of anaemia.
