Stuttering is a speech disorder that affects verbal fluency and significantly impacts the social, emotional, and academic development of affected individuals. This article presents a descriptive literature review of the clinical, genetic, and stomatological aspects of stuttering. The most relevant findings on genetic predisposition are analyzed, including genes such as GNPTAB, GNPTG, NAGPA, and CYP-40, and their role in speech development. In addition, a clinical case study is included, identifying orofacial alterations that may exacerbate verbal disfluency, highlighting the importance of comprehensive stomatological evaluation. The research demonstrates that stuttering is a multifactorial disorder influenced by genetic, neurological, anatomical, and environmental factors, reinforcing the need for personalized interdisciplinary approaches for diagnosis and treatment.
