ABSTRACT
We investigated the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Nghe An province, Vietnam. Early diagnosis of ASD is crucial for effective intervention and management. This study aimed to identify predictors of ASD diagnosis and explore evidence-based diagnostic practices. Data were collected from children presenting with suspected ASD symptoms in Nghe An province. The assessment included clinical evaluations, standardized diagnostic tools, and interviews with caregivers. Logistic regression was used to analyze predictors of ASD diagnosis. Results revealed several factors associated with ASD diagnosis, including behavioral symptoms, communication difficulties, and social interaction deficits. Evidence-based diagnostic practices, such as comprehensive evaluations and multi-disciplinary assessments, were employed to improve diagnostic accuracy. Early diagnosis facilitates timely intervention and support for children with ASD, emphasizing the importance of effective diagnostic strategies in resource-limited settings like Nghe An province, Vietnam.
