Role of adiponectin in adipose tissue wound healing

C. E. Jin, Xiao, L., Ge, Z. H., Zhan, X. B., and Zhou, H. X., Role of adiponectin in adipose tissue wound healing, vol. 14, pp. 8883-8891, 2015.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism behind adipose tissue wound healing (ATWH). The preadipocyte cell line 3T3-L1 was cultured and expression of adiponectin receptors (AdipoR1/2) was detected by immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The concentration of adiponectin secreted at different cell densities was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, while preadipocyte proliferation and migration were determined in vitro by MTT and wound closure assays. AdipoR1/2 were found to be expressed in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes.

Effects of washed platelets vs platelet-rich plasma on the proliferation and mineralization of rat dental pulp cells

L. Zhang, Xie, Y. H., and Lin, B. R., Effects of washed platelets vs platelet-rich plasma on the proliferation and mineralization of rat dental pulp cells, vol. 14, pp. 9486-9496, 2015.

We examined the effects of washed platelets (WPLTs) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on the proliferation and mineralization of rat dental pulp cells. Rat dental pulp cells were separated, cultured, and identified. Medium containing 1, 10, 100, or 500 mL/L PRP or WPLTs was added to 4th generation cells. The MTS method was used to determine cell proliferation.

Inhibitory effect of berberine on human skin squamous cell carcinoma A431 cells

D. X. Li, Zhang, J., Zhang, Y., Zhao, P. W., and Yang, L. M., Inhibitory effect of berberine on human skin squamous cell carcinoma A431 cells, vol. 14, pp. 10553-10568, 2015.

Berberine (BBR) is a natural alkaloid with significant anti-tumor activity against many types of cancer cells. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms employed by BBR to repress the proliferation and growth of skin squamous cell carcinoma A431 cells.
