Structure and polymorphism of 16 novel Y-STRs in Chinese Han Population

G. Q. Zhang, Yang, S. Y., Niu, L. L., and Guo, D. W., Structure and polymorphism of 16 novel Y-STRs in Chinese Han Population, vol. 11, pp. 4487-4500, 2012.

Y-chromosome short tandem repeats (Y-STRs) are useful tools for identifying paternity origin and male-female mixed samples because of their male-specificity, haploid inheritance and relatively simplicity. We focused on novel Y-STRs deposited in the human Genome database from DYS708 to DYS726. We typed 16 male-specific Y-STRs from males of a Chinese Han population residing in Shanxi Province (north China), including DYS708-719, DYS721-723, and DYS726, but failed in typing DYS720, DYS724 and DYS725.

Genetic data for 15 STR loci in a Kadazan-Dusun population from East Malaysia

B. P. Kee, Lian, L. H., Lee, P. C., Lai, T. X., and Chua, K. H., Genetic data for 15 STR loci in a Kadazan-Dusun population from East Malaysia, vol. 10, pp. 739-743, 2011.

Allele frequencies of 15 short tandem repeat (STR) loci, namely D5S818, D7S820, D13S317, D16S539, TH01, TPOX, Penta D, Penta E, D3S1358, D8S1179, D18S51, D21S11, CSF1PO, vWA, and FGA, were determined for 154 individuals from the Kadazan-Dusun tribe, an indigenous population of East Malaysia. All loci were amplified by polymerase chain reaction, using the Powerplex 16 system. Alleles were typed using a gene analyzer and the Genemapper ID software.
