Transcriptional analysis of the porcine TTID gene and association of different TTID genotypes with carcass traits

J. Wang, Feng, Y. - P., Zuo, B., Xiong, Y. - Z., and Deng, C. - Y., Transcriptional analysis of the porcine TTID gene and association of different TTID genotypes with carcass traits, vol. 13, pp. 1195-1202, 2014.

The titin immunoglobulin domain (TTID) protein localizes to the Z line in muscle and binds to alpha-actinin and gamma-filamin. It plays an indispensable role in stabilizing and anchoring of thin filaments. In this study, the 5'-regulatory region of the porcine TTID gene was analyzed with bioinformatic methods. Another objective of this study was to further investigate the polymorphism in the intron 6 of the porcine TTID gene. We determined allele frequency among six Chinese porcine purebreds.

Relationship between the TaqI B polymorphism of the cholesterol ester transfer protein gene and atrial fibrillation in Han and Kazak populations

M. Bakeyi, Wulasihan, M., Lu, W. H., Yang, Y. C., Li, J., Liu, Z. Q., and He, P. Y., Relationship between the TaqI B polymorphism of the cholesterol ester transfer protein gene and atrial fibrillation in Han and Kazak populations, vol. 13, pp. 9300-9307, 2014.

The TaqI B polymorphism in the cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) (B1 and B2 alleles; rs708272) is associated with changes in enzyme activity and lipid concentrations. The B1 allele of the CETP gene is a known independent risk factor for genetic susceptibility to atrial fibrillation (AF); however, little is known about this polymorphism in the minority groups of Xinjiang, China.

Prospective molecular markers for the identification of illegally traded angelsharks (Squatina) and dolphin (Sotalia guianensis)

L. H. O. Falcão, Furtado-Neto, M. A. A., Maggioni, R., and Faria, V. V., Prospective molecular markers for the identification of illegally traded angelsharks (Squatina) and dolphin (Sotalia guianensis), vol. 13, pp. 9710-9717, 2014.

Endangered angelsharks and a protected dolphin species are illegally traded in Brazil. In this study, we determined prospective molecular markers for detecting these species in the trade of angelshark carcasses and ‘dolphin’ eyeball amulets. We compiled publicly available as well as new and unpublished cytochrome b (cyt b) DNA sequences for species involved in these trades. These sequences were digested in silico using restriction enzymes.

Association between the TRAIL single nucleotide polymorphism rs1131580 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in a Han Chinese population

M. Y. Yu, Zhao, P. Q., Yan, X. H., Liu, B., Zhang, Q. Q., Wang, R., Ma, C. H., Liang, X. H., Zhu, F. L., and Gao, L. F., Association between the TRAIL single nucleotide polymorphism rs1131580 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in a Han Chinese population, vol. 12, pp. 3455-3464, 2013.

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is expressed in different tissues and cells, including the pancreas and lymphocytes, and it can selectively induce apoptosis in tumor cells but not in most normal cells. TRAIL plays critical roles in type 1 diabetes mellitus, and is involved in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
