We aimed to assess the protein 4.1R (4.1R) expression of the membrane skeleton in cardiomyocytes and to determine the potential role of 4.1R in the pathogenesis of heart failure (HF). Forty-two male mice were randomly divided into two groups: an HF group (N = 22) and control group (N = 20). The HF model was established by abdominal subcutaneous injection of 5 mg⋅kg-1⋅day-1 isopropyl adrenaline to the mice for 14 days. Electrocardiography was carried out and cardiac function was assessed by ultrasonic cardiogram.

Expression and localization of Luman/CREB3 in mouse embryos during the pre-implantation period

Luman/CREB3 is a transcription factor that is a member of the cAMP-response-element-binding protein family of basic region-leucine zipper transcription factors. This protein interacts with host cell factor 1, which also associates with the herpes simplex virus protein VP16 to induce the transcription of herpes simplex virus. Currently, the physiological function of Luman/CREB3 in reproductive processes remains unclear.

Serum cytokine modulation after Staphylococcus hyicus infection in BALB/c mice

Staphylococcal infection is a severe bacterial infection. Finding satisfactory predictable biological markers is essential for the treatment of this condition. In this study, we applied a 32-marker sandwich ELISA-based antibody array to evaluate cytokine changes in Staphylococcus hyicus-inoculated BALB/c mice at 24 and 48 h post infection.

Protective efficacy of a genetic subunit bacterin against edema disease of swine in mice

The exotoxin SLT-IIeB from the Escherichia coli Ee strain was expressed in E. coli, and the recombinant protein was purified, mixed with the Ee strain, then emulsified with oil-emulsion adjuvants to obtain a mixed subunit bacterin. Groups of Kunming mice were immunized at weeks 0 and 2, and challenged intraperitoneally with the Ee strain at week 4. Antibodies were detected by ELISA and an agglutination test.
