X. Y. Li, Ye, J. Z., Ding, X. P., Zhang, X. H., Ma, T. J., Zhong, R., and Ren, H. Y., Association between methionine synthase reductase A66G polymorphism and primary infertility in Chinese males, vol. 14, pp. 3491-3500, 2015.

We examined the association between the methionine synthase reductase (MTRR A66G), methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR C677T and A1298C), and methionine synthase (MS A2756G) genotypes and non-obstructive male infertility in a Chinese population. This case-control study included 162 infertile Chinese patients with azoospermia (N = 100) or oligoasthenozoospermia (N = 62) and 120 fertile men as controls.

Association between MTHFR 677C/T polymorphism and psoriasis risk: a meta-analysis

J. H. Qi, Shi, N., Chen, Y. J., and Nie, G., Association between MTHFR 677C/T polymorphism and psoriasis risk: a meta-analysis, vol. 14, pp. 3869-3876, 2015.

Previous studies investigating the association between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) 677C/T polymorphisms and psoriasis risk have reported inconsistent results. The present meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively evaluate the association between MTHFR 677C/T polymorphism and psoriasis risk. The studies regarding the association between MTHFR 677C/T polymorphism and psoriasis risk were retrieved from the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Chinese Biomedical databases.

Association of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphism with ischemic stroke in the Eastern Chinese Han population

Q. - Q. Lv, Lu, J., Sun, H., and Zhang, J. - S., Association of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphism with ischemic stroke in the Eastern Chinese Han population, vol. 14, pp. 4161-4168, 2015.

The association between the MTHFR genetic polymorphism and ischemic stroke has been reported by a number of investigators. However, the results have been controversial and conflicting. The aim of this study was to explore the association between the MTHFR variants C677T and A1298C and the risk of ischemic stroke in an Eastern Chinese Han population. A total of 199 patients with ischemic stroke and 241 controls were recruited. Genotyping of the MTHFR C677T and A1298C polymorphisms was carried out using the Taqman 7900HT Sequence Detection System.

Aberrant DNA methylation of the P16, MGMT, and hMLH1 genes in combination with the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C677T genetic polymorphism and folate intake in gastric cancer

J. Lin, Zeng, R. M., Li, R. N., and Cao, W. H., Aberrant DNA methylation of the P16, MGMT, and hMLH1 genes in combination with the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C677T genetic polymorphism and folate intake in gastric cancer, vol. 13, pp. 2060-2068, 2014.

Epidemiological studies have indicated that folate metabolism is correlated with increased risk of gastric cancer. Since methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is an important enzyme involved in folate metabolism, in this study, we examined whether polymorphisms and haplotypes of MTHFR are correlated with the risk of gastric cancer. The polymorphisms MTHFR C677T and MTHFR A1298C were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis in 285 patients and 570 healthy controls.

Prospective study of MTHFR genetic polymorphisms as a possible etiology of male infertility

S. - S. Li, Li, J., Xiao, Z., Ren, A. - G., and Jin, L., Prospective study of MTHFR genetic polymorphisms as a possible etiology of male infertility, vol. 13, pp. 6367-6374, 2014.

The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between 2 genetic polymorphisms of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene (MTHFR), C677T and A1298C, and determine the long-term reproductive outcome in infertile men. This was a prospective study conducted in an andrology clinic. Men with a 1-year history of infertility were assessed for the MTHFR polymorphisms at a 5-year follow-up.

Impact of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase polymorphisms and folate intake on the risk of gastric cancer and their association with Helicobacter pylori infection and tumor site

J. Chen, Yuan, L., Duan, Y. Q., Jiang, J. Q., Zhang, R., Huang, Z. J., and Xiao, X. R., Impact of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase polymorphisms and folate intake on the risk of gastric cancer and their association with Helicobacter pylori infection and tumor site, vol. 13, pp. 9718-9726, 2014.

Folic acid and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) may both affect the development of human cancer. We conducted a population-based case-control study in a Chinese population to investigate the potential role of folate intake and MTHFR gene polymorphisms in gastric cancer, and their interaction with infection by Helicobacter pylori and tumor location. A total of 767 patients with newly diagnosed gastric cancer and 775 controls were selected for this study.

Maternal MTHFR C677T polymorphism and congenital heart defect risk in the Chinese Han population: a meta-analysis

K. H. Chen, Chen, L. L., Li, W. G., Fang, Y., and Huang, G. Y., Maternal MTHFR C677T polymorphism and congenital heart defect risk in the Chinese Han population: a meta-analysis, vol. 12, pp. 6212-6219, 2013.

Numerous studies have evaluated the association between the maternal C677T polymorphism in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene and congenital heart defect (CHD) risk in the Chinese Han population. However, the specific association is still controversial. Six separate studies with 1089 subjects in the Chinese Han population on the relationship between the C677T polymorphism and CHDs were analyzed by meta-analysis, upon database search.

Association of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene A1298C polymorphism with stroke risk based on a meta-analysis

Q. Q. Lv, Lu, J., Wu, W., Sun, H., and Zhang, J. S., Association of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene A1298C polymorphism with stroke risk based on a meta-analysis, vol. 12, pp. 6882-6894, 2013.

Several independent studies have reported the role of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene (MTHFR) A1298C polymorphism in strokes, but the results are inconclusive. To derive a more precise estimation of the relationship, a meta-analysis was performed in the present study. In this meta-analysis, a total of 13 studies, including 1974 cases and 2660 controls, were selected to evaluate the possible association. Crude odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to assess the strength of the association in additive, dominant, and recessive models.
