D., Quantitative candidate gene association studies of metabolic traits in Han Chinese type 2 diabetes patients, vol. 14, pp. 15471-15481, 2015.

Recent genome-wide association studies have identified many loci associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), hyperuricemia, and obesity in various ethnic populations. However, quantitative traits have been less well investigated in Han Chinese T2DM populations. We investigated the association between candidate gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and metabolic syndrome-related quantitative traits in Han Chinese T2DM subjects. Unrelated Han Chinese T2DM patients (1975) were recruited.

Relationship between a lipoprotein lipase gene polymorphism in placental tissue and insulin resistance in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus

D. D. Li, Su, D. Y., Xue, L., Gao, W., and Pang, W. Y., Relationship between a lipoprotein lipase gene polymorphism in placental tissue and insulin resistance in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus, vol. 14, pp. 7751-7758, 2015.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between a lipoprotein lipase (LPL) gene polymorphism in placental tissue and insulin resistance (IR) in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus. Using polymerase chain reaction-restriction enzyme fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis, the LPL HindIII RFLP was examined in the placental tissue of 110 patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (observation group) and 110 women with normal gestation (control group).

Changes and clinical significance of serum vaspin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes

L. Yang, Chen, S. J., Yuan, G. Y., Wang, D., and Chen, J. J., Changes and clinical significance of serum vaspin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, vol. 14, pp. 11356-11361, 2015.

We investigated serum visceral adipose tissue-derived serpin (vaspin) levels in patients with normal glucose regulation and recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and explored the association between vaspin and body mass index, age, gender, glucose, lipid metabolism, and insulin sensitivity. Fasting serum vaspin levels in 66 patients with T2DM and 48 normal subjects were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. We found that serum vaspin levels in the DM group were 0.65 ± 0.13 mg/L in non-obese patients and 1.13 ± 0.25 mg/L in obese patients.
