Q. Wu, Yu, K. X., Ma, Q. S., and Liu, Y. N., Effects of intermittent hypobaric hypoxia preconditioning on the expression of neuroglobin and Bcl-2 in the rat hippocampal CA1 area following ischemia-reperfusion, vol. 14, pp. 10799-10807, 2015.

This study was aimed at understanding the effect of intermittent hypobaric hypoxia preconditioning (IHHP) on neuroglobin (NGB) and Bcl-2 expression in the hippocampal CA1 region of rats following global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion. Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham, IHHP control, global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (IR group), and IHHP+IR groups. The four-vessel occlusion rat model of Pulsinelli was used for the IR groups, in which the common carotid artery was occluded for 8 min before reperfusion.

S. Zhang, Gao, X., Ma, Y., Jiang, J., Dai, Z., Yin, X., Min, W., Hui, W., and Wang, B., Expression and significance of SATB1 in the development of breast cancer, vol. 14, pp. 3309-3317, 2015.

Special AT-rich sequence binding protein 1 (SATB1) is a recently discovered gene regulator that can promote the growth and metastasis of breast cancer. However, its expression in different stages of breast cancer development have not been examined. We explored the role of SATB1 in the development of breast cancer by detecting SATB1 expression levels in different stages of breast cancer.

Relationship between abnormal NOS expression and the pathogenesis of cerebral aneurysm

W. S. Liu, Geng, H. J., Wang, C. D., Li, A. J., Cao, P. C., Wang, D. K., and Li, G., Relationship between abnormal NOS expression and the pathogenesis of cerebral aneurysm, vol. 14, pp. 4276-4281, 2015.

We sought to investigate the relationship between abnormal expression of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and pathogenesis of cerebral aneurysm. Brain tissues were collected from 36 patients with cerebral aneurysm confirmed by computer tomography with angiography or neurosurgical therapy. The control group consisted of 25 patients of similar age who had no vascular diseases, as confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Samples of cortical arterioles were collected.

This study aimed to explore new opportunities for developing targeted therapy for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) by analyzing the significance and association between p53 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression in different molecular subtypes of breast cancer. The clinical and pathological data of 264 patients with breast cancer receiving surgery in our hospital from January 2012 to August 2013 were retrospectively analyzed.

Novel bioinformatic identification of differentially expressed tissue-specific and cancer-related proteins from the Human Protein Atlas for biomarker discovery

X. - X. Liu and Liu, F. - J., Novel bioinformatic identification of differentially expressed tissue-specific and cancer-related proteins from the Human Protein Atlas for biomarker discovery, vol. 14, pp. 4557-4565, 2015.

Identification of cancer-associated and tissue-specific proteins is important for research on carcinogenesis mechanisms and biomarker discovery. Here we performed a new strategy to identify candidate cancer proteins by mining immunohistochemistry protein profiles. Proteins with quantitative values from 14 normal tissues and their corresponding cancer tissues were compared and analyzed using bioinformatics.

Immunohistochemical detection and clinicopathological significance of JARID1B/KDM5B and P16 expression in invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast

L. H. Zhao and Liu, H. G., Immunohistochemical detection and clinicopathological significance of JARID1B/KDM5B and P16 expression in invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast, vol. 14, pp. 5417-5426, 2015.

The aims of this study were to investigate the expression of the H3K4 demethylase, jumonji AT-rich interactive domain 1B (JARID1B/KDM5B) and of p16 (multiple tumor suppressor gene MTS1) in breast cancer tissue and determine its clinicopathological significance. JARID1B/KDM5B and P16 protein expression in 176 resected breast cancer specimens and adjacent normal breast tissue was detected by the streptavidin-peroxidase (S-P) immunohistochemical method. The TNM staging grade was assigned according to the World Health Organization (2012) breast classification system.

FOXO1 is a tumor suppressor in cervical cancer

B. Zhang, Gui, L. S., Zhao, X. L., Zhu, L. L., and Li, Q. W., FOXO1 is a tumor suppressor in cervical cancer, vol. 14, pp. 6605-6616, 2015.

Forkhead box protein O1 (FOXO1) is an important transcriptional regulator of cell proliferation, and is considered essential for tumor growth and progression. However, the function of FOXO1 in human cervical cancer remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the role of FOXO1 in cervical cancer. Our results showed that FOXO1 expression was lower in cervical cancer than in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and normal cervix by immunohistochemical analysis (P 2/M phase and upregulation of caspases-3 and -9 gene expression.

Immunohistochemistry of lymphocytes in benign lymphoadenosis of oral mucosa

S. - X. Li, Li, Q., Yang, Y. - Q., Jin, L. - J., Sun, Z., and Yu, S. - F., Immunohistochemistry of lymphocytes in benign lymphoadenosis of oral mucosa, vol. 14, pp. 7163-7171, 2015.

Benign lymphoadenosis of oral mucosa (BLOM) is a common oral mucosa disease and may be regarded as a precancerous lesion. However, the association between its biological behavior and lymphocyte distribution remains unclear. Therefore, to investigate the characteristics of BLOM, we studied the infiltration of lymphocytes associated with it.
