Development and validation of single nucleotide polymorphism markers in Odontobutis potamophila from transcriptomic sequencing

H. W. Zhang, Yin, S. W., Zhang, L. J., Hou, X. Y., Wang, Y. Y., and Zhang, G. S., Development and validation of single nucleotide polymorphism markers in Odontobutis potamophila from transcriptomic sequencing, vol. 14, pp. 2080-2085, 2015.

Transcriptome sequencing technology has been applied in the development and discovery of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers in fish. In this study, a panel of 120 expressed sequence tag (EST)-derived SNPs was selected by several selection filters from the resultant EST library of Odontobutis potamophila using Illumina Sequencing. In total, 37 SNPs from 120 putative SNPs were considered as the true SNPs using Sanger sequencing. For each SNP locus of 30 individuals of one wild population of O.

Identification of differentially expressed genes associated with flower color in peach using genome-wide transcriptional analysis

Y. Zhou, Wu, X. X., Zhang, Z., and Gao, Z. H., Identification of differentially expressed genes associated with flower color in peach using genome-wide transcriptional analysis, vol. 14, pp. 4724-4739, 2015.

Flower color is an important trait of the ornamental peach (Prunus persica L.). However, the mechanism responsible for the different colors that appear in the same genotype remains unclear. In this study, red samples showed higher anthocyanins content (0.122 ± 0.009 mg/g), which was significantly different from that in white samples (0.066 ± 0.010 mg/g). Similarly to carotenoids content, red extract (0.058 ± 0.004 mg/L) was significantly higher in white extract (0.015 ± 0.004 mg/L).

Transcriptome profiling of the crofton weed gall fly Procecidochares utilis

X. Gao, Zhu, J. Y., Ma, S., Zhang, Z., Xiao, C., Li, Q., Li, Z. Y., and Wu, G. X., Transcriptome profiling of the crofton weed gall fly Procecidochares utilis, vol. 13, pp. 2857-2864, 2014.

Procecidochares utilis is a tephritid gall fly, which is known to be an effective biological agent that can be used to control the notoriously widespread crofton weed Eupatorium adenophorum. Despite its importance, genetic resources for P. utilis remain scarce. In this study, 1.2 Gb sequences were generated using Illumina paired-end sequencing technology. De novo assemblies yielded 491,760 contigs, 90,474 scaffolds, and 58,562 unigenes.
