Effect of the IGF-1/PTEN/Akt/FoxO signaling pathway in the duodenal mucosa of rats subjected to water immersion and restraint stress

P. Huang, Zhou, Z. R., Zheng, M. Q., and Shi, F. X., Effect of the IGF-1/PTEN/Akt/FoxO signaling pathway in the duodenal mucosa of rats subjected to water immersion and restraint stress, vol. 11, pp. 4775-4788, 2012.

The insulin growth factor 1/phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted on chromosome 10/Akt/forkhead box (IGF-1/PTEN/Akt/FoxO) signaling pathway reportedly exhibits gastroprotective effects by reducing water immersion and restraint stress (WRS)-induced gastric mucosal cell apoptosis. We examined the expression and localization of IGF-1, PTEN, Akt, and FoxO proteins, caspase-3 activity, and the number of apoptotic cells in the duodenal mucosa of rats subjected to WRS to confirm whether the IGF-1/PTEN/Akt/FoxO signaling pathway has a role in the duodenal mucosa.

Effects of intra- and extracellular factors on anti-aging klotho gene expression

K. Turan and Ata, P., Effects of intra- and extracellular factors on anti-aging klotho gene expression, vol. 10, pp. 2009-2023, 2011.

Inactivation of the klotho gene in mice causes serious systemic disorders, resembling human aging. However, at the molecular level, its action mechanisms are not well understood. The stimulatory or inhibitory effects of cis- and trans-regulatory factors on the klotho gene expression are also still unclear. We studied the effects of intra- and extracellular factors on human klotho gene expression.

Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 genes are associated with milk production, body condition score and fertility traits in dairy cows

G., Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 genes are associated with milk production, body condition score and fertility traits in dairy cows, vol. 10, pp. 1819-1830, 2011.

The somatotrophic axis (GH-IGF) is a key regulator of animal growth and development, affecting performance traits that include milk production, growth rate, body composition, and fertility. The aim of this study was to quantify the association of previously identified SNPs in bovine growth hormone (GH1) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) genes with direct performance trait measurements of lactation and fertility in Holstein-Friesian lactating dairy cows.

Single nucleotide polymorphism analysis of exons 3 and 4 of IGF-1 gene in pigs

L. L. Hao, Yu, H., Zhang, Y., Sun, S. C., Liu, S. C., Zeng, Y. Z., Ai, Y. X., and Jiang, H. Z., Single nucleotide polymorphism analysis of exons 3 and 4 of IGF-1 gene in pigs, vol. 10, pp. 1689-1695, 2011.

The IGF-1 gene has been implicated as a candidate gene for the regulation of pig growth traits. We analyzed exons 3 and 4 of IGF-1 gene polymorphisms of the Banna mini-pig (28), the Tibetan mini-pig (30), the Junmu pig (55), and L. Yorkshire species (50) using PCR-SSCP. Three genotypes in exon 3 and 6 genotypes in exon 4 were observed, among which, one single nucleotide polymorphism, G201A, on exon 3 and two single nucleotide polymorphisms, A440G and T455C, on exon 4 were found.
