Cloning and characterization of peanut allene oxide cyclase gene involved in salt-stressed responses

H. H. Liu, Wang, Y. G., Wang, S. P., and Li, H. J., Cloning and characterization of peanut allene oxide cyclase gene involved in salt-stressed responses, vol. 14, pp. 2331-2340, 2015.

In this study, the full-length cDNA encoding allene oxide cyclase (AhAOC) was isolated from peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.). The deduced amino acid sequence of AhAOC showed high homology with other plant AOCs. The transcript of AhAOC was found to be abundantly expressed in roots. Expression analysis demonstrated that AhAOC was induced by abscisic acid, methyl-jasmonic acid, salicylic acid, salinity, polyethylene glycol, and cold stresses, particularly by high salinity.

W. Y. Zhang, Jiang, S. F., Xiong, Y. W., Fu, H. T., Qiao, H., Sun, S. M., Gong, Y. S., and Jin, S. B., Molecular cloning and expression analysis of female sterile homeotic gene (fsh) in the oriental river prawn Macrobrachium nipponense, vol. 14, pp. 4318-4330, 2015.

The gene female sterile homeotic (fsh) plays crucial roles in molecular function, including protein kinase activity and DNA binding, which are involved in biological processes such as terminal region determination and negative regulation of DNA-dependent transcription. Although fsh has been found in Drosophila melanogaster, little is known regarding its expression in crustaceans.

H. P. Si, .L.Wang, C., Zhang, Y. Y., Mu, C. K., Zhan, P. P., Li, R. H., and Song, W. W., Molecular cloning and characterization of a novel Y-box gene from Sepiella maindroni, vol. 14, pp. 5750-5762, 2015.

Y-box proteins are a family of highly conserved nucleic acid binding proteins that interact with genome and transcription product to modulate the transcriptional and translational processes. In the present study, a complete mRNA of Y-box binding protein (designated SmYB) was obtained from Sepiella maindroni by amplification of flanking sequences.

D. Z. Kong, Shen, X. Y., Guo, B., Dong, J. X., Li, Y. H., and Liu, Y. P., Cloning and expression of an APETALA1-like gene from Nelumbo nucifera, vol. 14, pp. 6819-6829, 2015.

The objective of this study was to clone the full-length cDNA of the APETALA1 (AP1) gene from lotus and analyze its sequence and expression pattern. The full-length cDNA sequence of the NnAP1 gene was amplified from the petals of Nelumbo nucifera ‘Hongxia’ using RT-PCR and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. Bioinformatic methods were used to analyze the sequence characteristics of the gene.

M. Guo, Yin, Y. - X., Ji, J. - J., Ma, B. - P., Lu, M. - H., and Gong, Z. - H., Cloning and expression analysis of heat-shock transcription factor gene CaHsfA2 from pepper (Capsicum annuum L.), vol. 13, pp. 1865-1875, 2014.

The heat-shock transcription factor (Hsf) gene CaHsfA2 (GenBank accession No. JX402923) was cloned from the Capsicum annuum thermotolerant line R9 by combining the techniques electron cloning and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. The gene, which is 1436 bp in length, had an open reading frame of 1089 bp that encoded 362 amino acids. There was an 831-bp intron between positions 321 and 322 of the cDNA.

Lipopolysaccharide and β-1,3-glucan binding protein in the hard clam (Meretrix meretrix): Molecular characterization and expression analysis

S. X. Liu, Qi, Z. H., Zhang, J. J., He, C. B., Gao, X. G., and Li, H. J., Lipopolysaccharide and β-1,3-glucan binding protein in the hard clam (Meretrix meretrix): Molecular characterization and expression analysis, vol. 13, pp. 4956-4966, 2014.

Pattern recognition molecules play an important role in innate immunity by recognizing conserved molecular patterns that are present on the surface of invading microorganisms. In this study, a lipopolysaccharide and β-1,3-glucan binding protein (LGBP) gene was cloned from the hard clam Meretrix meretrix (designated as Mm-LGBP) by the expressed sequence tags and rapid amplification of cDNA ends method.

Cloning and functional prediction of differentially expressed genes in the leaves of Glycine max parents and hybrids at the seedling stage

J. Zhang, Yao, D., Wang, P., Guan, S. Y., Ma, J., and Fu, Y. P., Cloning and functional prediction of differentially expressed genes in the leaves of Glycine max parents and hybrids at the seedling stage, vol. 13, pp. 5474-5483, 2014.

Here, we compare the molecular mechanism of soybean heterosis through the differential expression of basic cloning. Specifically, we cloned 22 differentially expressed cDNA fragments from hybrid combinations of Jilin 38 x EXP (which had obvious yield advantages) and their parents. In addition, we compared the homology of these fragments and predicted their functions.

Molecular characteristics and expression of calmodulin cDNA from the freshwater pearl mussel, Hyriopsis schlegelii

L. - G. Zeng, Wang, J. - H., Li, Y. - J., Sheng, J. - Q., Gu, Q., and Hong, Y. - J., Molecular characteristics and expression of calmodulin cDNA from the freshwater pearl mussel, Hyriopsis schlegelii, vol. 11, pp. 42-52, 2012.

Calmodulin (CaM) is a multifunctional intracellular calcium ion receptor protein that participates in a range of cellular processes, including calcium metabolism in mussels. To investigate the role of CaM in freshwater mollusk shell calcium metabolism, the full-length CaM cDNA was isolated from the freshwater pearl mussel, Hyriopsis schlegelii (referred to as hsCaM) using SMART RACE technology.

Isolation and analysis of α-expansin genes in the tree Anthocephalus chinensis (Rubiaceae)

K. X. Ouyang, Liu, M. Q., Pian, R. Q., Liu, S. S., and Chen, X. Y., Isolation and analysis of α-expansin genes in the tree Anthocephalus chinensis (Rubiaceae), vol. 12. pp. 1061-1073, 2013.

Expansins are cell wall-associated proteins that induce wall extension and relax stress by disrupting noncovalent bonds between cellulose microfibrils and cross-linking glycan chains, thereby promoting wall creep. Anthocephalus chinensis is a very fast-growing economically important tree found mainly in South Asia. Sixteen cDNAs, designated AcEXPA1 to AcEXPA16 (GenBank accession Nos. FJ417847, JF922686-JF922700) with corresponding genomic DNA sequences (GenBank accession Nos.

F. Z. Liu, Guo, A. Q., and Wan, Y. S., Cloning and polymorphism analysis of the 2-methyl-6-phytyl-1,4-benzoquinol methyltransferase gene (VTE3) in Arachis hypogaea, A. duranensis, and A. ipaënsis, vol. 12, pp. 1859-1871, 2013.

One of the critical enzymes involved in vitamin E biosynthesis in plants is 2-methyl-6-phytyl-1,4-benzoquinol methyltransferase (MPBQ MT). The full-length VTE3 cDNA (designated rVTE3-1 and -2) encoding MPBQ MT and the full-length DNA of VTE3 (designated gVTE3-1 and -2) were isolated from cultivated peanuts (Arachis hypogaea). The full-length DNA of VTE3 (designated gVTE3-A and -B) was isolated from the wild groundnut species A. duranensis (A-genome) and A.
