Cyclin D1 G870A polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of multiple myeloma

S. Wang, Huang, Y., Su, R., Fang, Z., and Han, M., Cyclin D1 G870A polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of multiple myeloma, vol. 14, pp. 5856-5861, 2015.

Cyclin D1 is an important cell cycle regulator implicated in the pathogenesis of many cancer types. In particular, translocation and overexpression of cyclin D1 are common events in multiple myeloma (MM), suggesting that it may drive the initiation and progression of this malignancy. However, the association between genetic polymorphisms of cyclin D1 and the risk for developing MM remains poorly characterized. We performed a case-control study with 67 patients with MM and 66 healthy controls in a Chinese population.

Association of cyclin D1 and survivin expression with sensitivity to radiotherapy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

S. M. Fu, Xu, M. X., Lin, S. M., Liang, Z., and Cai, J. H., Association of cyclin D1 and survivin expression with sensitivity to radiotherapy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, vol. 13, pp. 3502-3509, 2014.

The association between cyclin D1 and survivin protein expressions with radiotherapy sensitivity in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma was investigated. Biopsy specimens of 72 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were collected before the initiation of radiotherapy (49 cases were in the radiation-sensitive group and 23 cases were in the radiation-insensitive group). Conventional hematoxylin and eosin staining was used for tissue typing. The immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect cyclin D1 and survivin protein expression levels.

Inhibitory effect of dexamethasone on Lewis mice lung cancer cells

Y. Geng, Wang, J., Jing, H., Wang, H. W., and Bao, Y. X., Inhibitory effect of dexamethasone on Lewis mice lung cancer cells, vol. 13, pp. 6827-6836, 2014.

Recent studies have found that glucocorticoids are closely associated with oncogenesis and the development of many types of tumors. The aim of this study was to observe the effect of dexamethasone on the growth and angiogenesis of transplanted Lewis lung carcinoma in mice. Lewis lung carcinoma cells were inoculated subcutaneously into the right axilla of C57BL/6 mice, and the mice were randomly divided into 3 groups: the control group, cisplatin group, and dexamethasone group.

Effect of the Jianpi Bushen Prescription on expressions of the Wnt3a and Cyclin D1 genes in radiation-damaged mice

D. C. He, Xiao, J. J., Zhang, Y., Lin, H., Ding, X. J., and Tu, Y., Effect of the Jianpi Bushen Prescription on expressions of the Wnt3a and Cyclin D1 genes in radiation-damaged mice, vol. 12, pp. 4137-4146, 2013.

The effects of the traditional Chinese drug Jianpi Bushen Prescription (JBP) were investigated on expressions of Wnt3a and Cyclin D1 genes in radiation-damaged mice. The radiation damage model was induced in Kumming mice by single total body irradiation treatment for 9 days. Mice were divided into the radiation group, low-dose (100%) JBP group, high-dose (200%) JBP group, or batyl alcohol group (positive control), which were administered twice a day for 9 days.

RNA interference-mediated URG4 gene silencing diminishes cyclin D1 mRNA expression in HepG2 cells

N. L. Satiroglu-Tufan, Dodurga, Y., Gok, D., Cetinkaya, A., and Feitelson, M. A., RNA interference-mediated URG4 gene silencing diminishes cyclin D1 mRNA expression in HepG2 cells, vol. 9, pp. 1557-1567, 2010.

Up-regulated gene 4 (URG4), stimulated by HBxAg, is a novel gene located on chromosome 7 (7p13). The full-length URG4 clone is 3.607 kb and encodes a polypeptide of 922 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 104 kDa (GeneID: 55665). It promotes cell growth, growth factor-independent survival, and anchorage-independent growth in HepG2 cells, and it accelerates tumor formation in nude mice. Hence, URG4 may be a natural effector of HBxAg and a putative oncogene that contributes to multi-step hepatocarcinogenesis.
