We investigated the association between the interleukin 4 gene (IL-4) -590C>T polymorphism and forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) values, immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels, and susceptibility to asthma in Uighur children. IL-4 -590C>T frequencies were analyzed in 38 bronchial asthmatic patients and 35 non-asthmatic controls. Polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing were applied to determine the residue at position -590 of IL-4.

This study aimed to investigate the role of M3 acetylcholine receptor (M3-AChR) expression in airway remodeling. Additionally, we aimed to evaluate the effects of ipratropium bromide solution inhaled in an early phase of asthma on airway remodeling in ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized and challenged mice. Thirty BALB/c mice were divided into three groups, namely, control group (saline sensitized/challenged mice), asthma group (OVA sensitized/challenged mice), and treatment group (OVA sensitized/challenged mice treated by ipratropium bromide).

In this research, compound Maqin decoction (CMD) has been shown to positively affect in airway inflammation of asthma models. We evaluated the effects of CMD on the expression of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1/Smad proteins, interleukin (IL)-17, and IL-10 in lung tissue of asthmatic rats. Asthma was induced in a rat model using ovalbumin. After a 4-week treatment with CMD, rats were killed to evaluate the expression of TGF-β1 and Smad proteins in lung tissue. IL-10 and IL-17 levels in lung tissue homogenates were determined by ELISA.
